Creatine is one of the most effective supplements for exercise performance.

The Discovery of Creatine:

French scientist Michel Eugene Chevreul

French scientist:
Michel Eugene Chevreul

Creatine Monohydrate was first discovered in 1832 by the French scientist Michel Eugene Chevreul. He discovered a new ingredient of meat to which he gave the name Creatine, which was then spelled - (kreas) which is Greek for flesh. In 1847 this work was duplicated by German scientist Justus von Liebig when he successfully replicated Chevreul's finding that indeed creatine did exist. This little discovery would become a billion dollar all on to itself.

Creatine takes a place on the Olympic Stage:

As early as 1912 Harvard University researchers found evidence that ingesting creatine could dramatically boost the creatine content of your muscles. In the late 1920s, after finding that the intramuscular stores of creatine can be increased by ingesting creatine in larger than normal amounts, scientists discovered creatine phosphate, and determined that creatine is a key player in the metabolism of skeletal muscle. The substance creatine is naturally formed in vertebrates.[1]

Even with these scientific findings from the early part of the century the sports performance power of creatine was not witnessed until the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. On August 7, 1992 article in The Times reported that Linford Christie, the gold medal winner at 100 meters, had used creatine before the Olympics. An article in Bodybuilding Monthly named Sally Gunnell, who was the gold medalist in the 400-meter hurdles, as another creatine user. In addition, The Times also noted that 100 meter hurdler Colin Jackson began taking creatine before the Olympics.[2][3]

The new KING of Bodybuilding Supplements:

Even though creatine was available before 1992 it was not available in the sports supplements type we come to know today until the mid 1993 when EAS premiered Phosphagen to the supplement market. It quickly became extremely popular with all natural athletes looking for and edge to gain muscular size and strength. This was pure Creatine Monohydrate that was usually mixed with either Grape or Apple juice to get and insulin spike to drive more into the muscle. Creatine's consumption and popularity rose quickly and has held steady until today. Creatine has been the #1 Sports Supplement since those early days

Don't belive the Hype!

Ever since creatine rise of popularity there have been companies trying to say they have the best of the best when it comes to Creatine supplementation. Today creatine comes in many different forms as it has been dissected and added to many different formulation designed as either pre workout or post-workout supplements. The main ingredient that just about all of these supplements has in common is the “Puffery” that is being used to sell them.

Faster, Bigger, Stronger, Better:

If you really want to see the popularity of the supplement industry just take a second and look at all the ads just surrounding its number one supplement category - Pre-Workout Supplements. On of the biggest components of the early years of these supplements was Creatine Monohydrate. Monohydrate used to be the most used form of creatine up until 2003 when companies started using other forms of creatine with lesser amounts and adding ingredients that were just pure stimulants and did very little for muscle growth and strength.

Monohydrate will always Rule!

With the addition of these new forms of creatine we has seen each everyone boosting about how fast they absorb and don't convert to creatinine in the gut which is useless to the body. There is big problem with every single one of these claims they are all what is legally called “Puffery”.

Definition: Puffery - exaggerated or false praise.

There is NO evidence of any of the other forms of creatine even coming close to assimilating as fast as pure creatine monohydrate does in the gut. The smaller the distillation particles the quicker the absorption. Creapure® is creatine monohydrate made by German company AlzChem. Pure creatine should contain no more than a few tens of parts per million (ppm) of DCD and no detectable DHT, which is potentially harmful. This is the case with Creapure®. The purer the Creatine the better the assimilation and the less the conversion to creatinine. Creapure® creatine monohydrate is 99.9% pure.

In Conclusion:

Over the past 20+ years Creatine Monohydrate has been put through the wringer as far as testing on all levels (Sports Nutrition / Wellness /General Health) and it has stood up to all scientific rigors. No other food supplement has benefited both the sports world and our everyday lives. Even if you don't workout, supplementing with 2-3 grams of creatine a day, 3-4 times a week will greatly increase your energy and improve your overall health. Creatine is the #1 Bodybuilding Supplement in the world it just may be the #1 Supplement Period.
