What is Creatine Ethyl Ester?

Creatine Ethyl Ester is creatine monohydrate with an ester attached. The attachment of an ester is significant, because esters are found in the fat tissue of animals. As a consumer you need to ask yourself two questions.
1. Why is this important for you?
2. Does this have a role in the absorption of more creatine into the muscle cell?

Why is this important for you? - This ester attachment give creatine a effective way to penetrate the membrane of the cell through a process called PASSIVE PERMEATION. Its this method of absorption that is the crux of all the controversy surrounding this creatine form. This is not new and has been used in Amino Acid therapies with great success. So the methodology is sound.

Passive permeation is a process that describes the diffusion of a substance across a cell membrane through the use of lipids(or Fats) as transport mechanisms. Because there is no "work" is being done by the cell in this model, this model is called passive permeation.

Because creatine works in this manner of penetration, this makes the esterfication significant in its absorption.

Does this have a role in the absorption of more creatine into the muscle cell? - We here have tried some of the newer forms and it does seem to work better than regular creatine alone. As for the claims of 40% or greater absorption we are skeptical of such numbers. On the other hand this form of creatine seems to work for people who have had little to no effect from straight creatine monohydrate.
