Universal Nutrition Animal Omega

The first shall be last. Beyond the legendary Pak and a solid protein powder, there is no more critical supplemental need in the protocol of the dedicated iron athlete than essential fatty acids (EFAs). For so long, supplementing with EFAs necessitated that a bodybuilder draw from a diverse group of individual sources in order to meet his daily needs. Many saw it as a necessary evil, but such a process was also inconvenient, inefficient and expensive. Again addressing the needs of the hardest of the hardcore, Animal has got your back. This time their pledge to provide the iron athlete with all the tools they need to achieve their very individual goals has manifested itself in the form of the first and only, most complete EFA product designed specifically for bodybuilders and powerlifters, Universal Nutritions Animal Omega.

No matter what your goals are, your quest for the ultimate physique begins and ends with the diet. When you get down to it, it's quite simple--to pack on mass, ya gotta take in more quality calories throughout the day. And vice versa, to cut down, ya gotta consume fewer calories, but also from quality sources. And of course keep up the lifting and cardio. Building a solid physique doesn't just stop once you leave the gym, it essentially begins and ends with your diet and nutrition which is a 24/7 job.

When it comes to dieting, the fat portion of the macronutrient dieting equation is often overlooked. Usually protein and carbs are adequately accounted for but when it comes to fats, ya might throw in some almonds, cashews, peanuts or flax caps here and there and not much else. But what most don't know is that this can actually be shortchanging your results. Allow us to introduce you to the healthy side of fats and dispel the myths associated with consuming fats while dieting. Over the years, researchers have found that there are numerous health benefits of fats, especially the essential fatty acids (EFAs). Believe it or not, certain essentially fatty acids when consumed in the right ratios and amounts are actually considered to be healing oils. So, drive out your mind of all of the negative images that the word fat has conjured up over the years and allow for some new knowledge about the healthy side of fats, the essentially fatty acids (EFAs) to flow through.

Just what are EFAs and how are they different from other fats? For starters, EFAs are those necessary fats that we as humans are unable to synthesize in our bodies and must be obtained from either diet or supplementation. Of less than 50 essential nutrients, like the essential amino acids and other essential micronutrients such as vitamins and minerals, we need optimum amounts in order for the body to function properly, let alone to make gains in lean mass. Getting the proper amount of EFAs ain't always easy, especially when they are so hard to obtain with a typical diet. Why do we say typical diet? Well, because of convenience and availability of oils, a typical diet consists of an overabundance of commercial oils, usually from plant sources that are hydrogenated, saturated and refined and removed of their natural phytonutrients, as they are the easiest and most economical to get your hands on.

Now if you want the typical physique that you see in your every day walks of life, then continue on with eating foods that are packed with these refined and basically worthless fats. We gotta warn ya though, you are what you eat and if ya stick with such fats, your physique and overall health will be the one to pay for it. We don't think ya do, so let's continue talking about the right fats, the EFAs.

Certain plant oils and fish oils contain the EFAs that are essential to our survival and growth. Such EFAs feed every part of the body and provide fuel to every cell, tissue, gland and organ in the body. So ya gotta think, when rebuilding the cells of your body, what kind of fats do you want to rebuild 'em? Definitely not the poorly nutritious, refined oils found predominantly in so many of the processed foods out there. What you want are the EFAs to be the cornerstone of your cellular health and physique recomposition.

Let's look a little further at what EFAs can actually do. EFAs have been clinically proven to exert positive effects in many areas of health, including balancing insulin levels, thermogenesis, anabolism, hormone synthesis, fertility, prostaglandin function, immune function, repair of cellular membranes, enabling cells to obtain optimum nutrition and more. For the bodybuilder, EFAs are vital for optimal metabolism, hormone production, cardiovascular health, peak performance, reducing exercise soreness and maximizing fat burning. It's a wonder why they are so overlooked and underutilized by the population.

For supplementation purposes there are only 2 types of fats that are needed; Omega 3's (n-3) and Omega 6's (n-6). Omega 9 is necessary, yet not essential because it can be made by the body in modest amounts. The reason why the body can't make an n-3 or n-6 fatty acid is that human metabolism can't add a double bond to a fatty acid that is more than 9 carbons away from the delta end. This is also the reason why the body can't convert an n-3 fatty acid to an n-6 fatty acid and vice versa. Yeah, it sounds like scientific bullshit, but is important to see from a chemistry perspective why it's so hard to obtain the right EFAs from the diet.

Now, if one of the EFA's, n-3 or n-6, were lacking in your diet, there's no telling how much your performance could suffer. EFA deficiency is quite common worldwide, particularly n-3 deficiency. An ideal intake ratio of n-6 to n-3 would fall into the range of 1:1 to around 4:1, however, most people get closer to 10:1 or higher. Consuming a closer ratio of n-6 to n-3 fats is of great importance for overall health. As both n-6 and n-3 compete for the same metabolic enzymes, it's key to consume the proper ratios.

When both essential fats are consumed in the right amounts and ratios, the body will be better able to regulate what goes on in the every cell, all the time. For instance, a high n-6 to n-3 ratio will significantly influence the ratio of eicosanoids, which are most often involved in clotting, inflammation and initiation of immune defense amongst other things. An imbalance can greatly alter the body's metabolic function. N-6 metabolites tend to be more pro-inflammatory than n-3, so just imagine if you consume a diet high in n-6. Down the road, EFA deficiency and an imbalance of n-6 to n-3 EFAs is linked with serious health implications, such as allergies, heart disease, cancer, insulin resistance, asthma, lupus, depression, accelerated aging, stroke, obesity, arthritis, diabetes and ADHD, among others. Not only that, but lack of the right EFAs could potentially inhibit growth and limit performance-unacceptable outcomes for the dedicated few.

This is where a supplement like Universal Nutrition: Animal Omega comes into play. Sure, it ain't fancy. No cool bells and whistles here, just the basics. It's not going to pack on 10 lb in a week but long-term, it'll get ya to where ya want to be. EFAs are needed, not just any old EFAs, but the right kinds and the right amounts. That's what Universal Nutrition: Animal Omega is all about. Omega is the most complete EFA product on the market. It contains the right fats that bodybuilders require. It's a full spectrum EFA supplement, each pack containing a precise and pre-dosed ratio of n-3 to n-6 EFAs.

In nature, small amounts of n-3s are found in dark green vegetables, walnuts, soybeans as well as very trace amounts in other popular nuts like almonds and cashews. Universal Nutrition: Animal Omega, however is packed with extremely concentrated sources of Omega 3 oils extracted from various fish sources such as salmon, cod liver, herring, and plant-sourced omega 3s from flaxseed oil. Such a well-rounded mixture ensures that you obtain all of the various n-3 extracts that are so important for general health. You get the balance of alpha linoleic acid from flax and the key fish oil extracts, EPA and DHA.

Universal Nutrition: Animal Omega is then rounded out with key Omega 6 oils, including; borage, evening primrose, sesamin, and CLA. Linoleic acid is the other essential fatty acid found in nature. As said before, lack of n-6 in ones diet is hard to come by. However, there is a specific form of n-6 that is crucial for health. The body uses n-6 essential fatty acids to make various prostaglandins and leukotrienes. These substances influence inflammation and pain; some of them increase symptoms, while others decrease them. One specific n-6 extract called GLA may swing the balance over to the more favorable prostaglandins and leukotrienes, making it helpful for diseases that involve inflammation and an important substance to consume. Finding GLA in food is extremely hard unless you are eating plants like borage and evening primrose. Not many do. But you can find 'em in supplements. The thing with GLA is that usually the body can make all the GLA it needs from linoleic acid, an omega-6 essential fatty acid that's found in many different foods. But these foods are usually loaded with other unnecessary fats. Also, in certain circumstances, however, the body may not be able to convert linoleic acid to GLA efficiently, making it extremely important to consume GLA extracts. This is another reason why Animal Omega has ample amounts of. It cuts away much of the unnecessary fats and gets right to the core extracts that are needed for optimal performance.

Another n-6 found in Animal Omega is CLA. CLA, is touted for its ability to reduce body fat, being anti-catabolic, acting as an antioxidant and enhancing the immune system. Although exactly how CLA works is not completely understood, it's been show by the research community that CLA positively influences the metabolism and assists with fat regulation and protein metabolism. CLA, though is not specifically an EFA, (it's a naturally occurring fatty acid found in meal and dairy) is an important addition to the Animal Omega formula as its health promoting properties were too good to pass up.

Sesamin is another hot ingredient added to the Omega formula. It's a naturally occurring lignan found in sesame oil. Research has shown sesamin can help maximize fat loss, support liver and kidney health and maintain healthy lipid profiles when combined along with other EFAs as found in Animal Omega. It appears to work by boosting in lipid metabolism while also simultaneously lowering lipogenic enzymes in the liver. This reduces the amount of fats that are esterfied for storage in adipose tissue. All of this is very promising for lean mass re-composition.

All this is supported by a comprehensive nutrient transport complex which allows for maximum absorption and utilization and transport of Omega's essential fatty acids. L-carnitine, lipase and lecithin make up the complex so you rest assured that the components that make up the n-3 and n-6 complexes are actually getting into your system efficiently and effectively. Another important aspect of this complex is the addition of important antioxidants, Vitamins A, D and E, which ensure EFA stability and prevents 'em from breaking down in the can--a must have for any type of EFA supplement. This translates to ultra potent softgels right from jump street.

All in all, Animal Omega provides essential nutrition for the bodybuilder. It's loaded with all of the right fats, in a proper ratio of n-3 to n-6 to help support high quality metabolic functioning and body recomposition. It also supports cardio-vascular protection, a healthy immune system and overall health and well being. It won't change your physique overnight, but it will be an important addition in addressing your long term bodybuilding and strength training goals.

Bookending your daily supplement intake, Animal Omega is a complete, daily source of EFAs… A 365 day a year staple worthy of standing opposite the iconic Pak. Addressing the needs of the most dedicated of all iron athletes, Omega is a core basic, a foundational supplement of the elite sort worthy of the Animal heritage.
