Bodybuilding supplements as a concept are those supplements that build muscle, shed fat, improve strength and increase health!

“Long chain carbohydrates + amino acids(EAA's + BCAA's + Creatine and or Glutamine) + nutrient timing = Muscle Growth and Recovery”
DL.

Some of the research as of late has hinted that drinks containing a full spectrum amino acids(both essential and non-essential) and long chain carbohydrates can result in dramatically favorable physiological changes in responses to training if consumed before, during, and after exercise. Consuming drinks like these in this way has been known to be vastly more effective than the straight consumption these substances being restricted to just before training only or after training only.

The facts are that EAA / carbohydrate drinks of this kind are so powerful that they are not only being studied for use in athletics, but they are also being studied as a treatment for catabolic wasting in critically ill and bedridden hospital patients!!

We here have always been a strong advocate of such supplementation because your body is always growing, even during training or competition. Such drinks should start with crystalline free form amino acids along with a helping dose of branch chained amino acids (BCAA's) and glutamine peptides. The extra dose of BCAA's and glutamine will farther enhance the anti-catabolic effects of the compound as well as provide a non-carbohydrate form of fuel for your muscles. We recommend free-from amino acids because they spend very little time in the gut and produce less stress compared to other protein forms[1]. Also free-from amino acids have been proven to yield better up take when combined with carbohydrates. This combination has proven very effective in getting nutrients through the gut into the blood stream.

Along with quick action amino acids we also need a carbohydrate source that act the same, It must be a highly absorbable and digestible carbohydrate blend whose principle component is quickly consumed. Enter Amylopectin, starches that are high in amylopectin are digested and absorbed more quickly than starches with a high Amylose content and produce larger postprandial glucose and insulin responses[2,3,4]. The most abundant Amylopectin starch use by bodybuilders goes by the name - Waxy Maize Starch. Waxy Maize Starch is a form of amylopectin (a specialized high molecular weight carbohydrate) derived from waxy corn starch that has excellent osmotic properties. This enables the drink to empty from the stomach very quickly. Vitargo is also digested rapidly giving it a very high GI rating. The result of this carbohydrate blend is minimal bloating and excellent absorbability of the entire drink formula.

Now lets design your new Pre/Intra/Post workout drink. Now using what we already know we could go out and buy one of the pre-made supplements on the market today and save our selves some time, but here @MuscleSports.net we love putting our own formulas together, because you can more accurately controll the amounts instead of relying on some Proprietory Blend that may be loaded with who knows what!

All 3 formulas are designed to be mixed up before working out. It is then consumed throughout the entire exercise session. Optimally the product is mixed in water about 15-20 minutes before an exercise session and then sipped continuously through the entire pre-workout and workout period. Afterwards, it is beneficial to consume an additional dose to optimize anabolic/anti-catabolic and glycogen re-deposition effects.

We have mixed some of the supplement brands around but you can choose the ones that work best for you, just be sure they adhere to the standards of no added or extra ingredients in the supplement formula. You may also notice that it is some what bothersome to obtain cystalline amino acid powder, the reason most companies put amino acids either in capsules or tablets is that they taste horrible. Even some tof the amino mixes out on the market can't mask the taste completely and believe me they have tried. We perfer the use of the use of the sugar free zero calories drink mixes, they provide very good taste at very affordable prices.

Thats it for the time being, but rest assured we were are already working on our next creations even before this article was written.
